African American Musical Journey From Slavery to Civil Rights Movement
Saturday, February 4 at 2p.m. in the Library Community Room

Historical overview of the evolution of African American inspired music. From the blues to zydeco, and jazz to hip-hop; from the slave-era spirituals about struggle and personal empowerment to the forefathers of rock & roll, America’s roots music is absolutely replete with the influence of the African-American community. So there is, quite possibly, no better way to celebrate African-American history month than by taking a look at the incredible music that has been contributed to the American story by African-American musicians and writers.

Celebrate Black History Month--meet real heroes from World War II and hear their stories.

eBook Program
Wednesday, February 22 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Community Room.

This Program will focus on how find and borrow library eBooks so that you can read them on non-Kindle devices such as the Nook, Sony or Kobo, as well as tablets like the iPad2 or the Pandigital Novel. We will present what is needed to borrow a library eBook and demonstrate how to browse the digital collection and how to manage your digital account. This program is free but preregistration is required. You can register online or call the Computer Lab, 610-278-5100 ext 141.

Evolution of the Blues
Saturday, February 25 at 2p.m. in the Library Community Room

Joe Becton in period attire sings and plays traditional instruments as he takes participants on a musical walk through African American history and music. He traces styles of music developed by Africans in America and the collision of cultures that created the music we call Blues.

Yoga Class
Every Friday Starting January 6th through January 27th

1 to 2p.m. in the Library Community Room

This is a rejuvenating class that is open to all levels - a great opportunity to invite yoga into your life. Practice basic yoga poses and how to connect them through attention to breathing, alignment and mindfulness. Excellent for developing grace, flexibility, core strength, balance, muscular strength and stress reduction. Come prepared for inspiration, empowerment and fun! Appropriate for students of all levels as modifications will be offered by the teacher accordingly.

Only $20 for 4 classes or
$6 walk-in fee per class

Book Discussion Group
This group of avid readers led by Dr. Harold W. Halbert, meets every third Saturday of the month in the library's Board Room at 2:00 p.m. New members are welcome.

Please note that with the exception of the month of January, the reading selection sequence will be determined by the number of available copies of the title in the library system. We hope you enjoy these selections and we look forward seeing you at the discussions.

Senior Film Festival
Movies will be shown every second Wednesday of the month in the Board Room between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Each month we will feature a new theme. For seniors. Bring a friend! Complete movie listings will be available at the front desk. For more information please call 610-278-5100 x 110

January’s theme is based on the novel by Sue Monk Kidd.
On January 11th, we will be showing “Secret Life of Bees.”

February’s theme is based on the novel by “anonymous author” Joe Klein.
On February 8th, we will be showing “Primary Colors.”
Great Books Discussion Group
In general this group meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 2:00 p.m. in the Board Room. There are occasional exceptions however, so please check the calendar of events. New members are welcome, but please call Shirley Miller at (610)272-4179 before attending your first meeting.

Craft Night
This program is geared toward seniors who enjoy working on their crafts in the company of other crafters. Share new ideas and either work on individual projects or a group effort. No registration is required. All crafts are welcome!
Tuesdays 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. in the children’s library.
